R&D Electrical Engineer
R&D Unit Leader In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute significantly to successful project results in technology, software, product, and/or solution development, as well as associated Intellectual Property (IP). Each day, you will act as the first point of contact in Research and Development for specific product-related issues and maintenance. You will also showcase your expertise by identifying , proposing, and implementing innovative solutions.
This role sits within the ABB Furse R&D department, part of the ABB ELIP division. The role focuses on electrical/electronic product design, with a strong emphasis on PCB design, testing, and validation. - Work model: Onsite/Hybrid (1day wfh)
- Leading electrical/electronic product design projects, ensuring compliance with performance and safety standards.
- Designing and developing ancillary mechanical products.
- Perform product testing and validation, including internal and external test oversight.
- Collaborate on enclosure design (plastic/metal) and integration with PCB assemblies.
- Support documentation control and release to manufacturing functions.
- Conduct quality inspections and implement improvements to enhance product reliability.
- Provide technical input for earthing and lightning protection solutions.
- Designing and developing Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) for complex electrical systems.
- Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (BEng or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years' experience in PCB design and electrical/electronic product testing.
- Proficiency in PCB design tools and testing methodologies.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Mechanical design experience (2D/3D CAD).
- Knowledge of earthing and lightning protection products.
- Experience with surge protection devices.
- Familiarity with high-frequency circuit simulation.
