The post sits within the integrated trust-wide Safeguarding Service which provides advice and holds to account services across the Trust in relation to both children and adult safeguarding matters. The service also provides supervision to staff in line with the Safeguarding Supervision Framework and co-ordinates the Trust’s involvement in multi-agency reviews.

The role requires the post holder to work in collaboration with the whole Safeguarding Service to meet the Trust’s statutory requirements under the national and local safeguarding agenda and to work in line with the service priorities.

The focus of the role is providing high quality safeguarding advice to frontline staff, acting as a part of a team around the worker ensuring they have the knowledge and skills to effectively safeguard patients, their families and carers.

The Team takes a ‘Think Family’ approach and provides advice on both safeguarding and public protection issues, for both child and adult focussed services.

The post holder will also be expected to undertake research for and attend a range of safeguarding meetings, providing specialist opinion on the role of health and reducing risk.

To support frontline staff to ensure safeguarding practice is in line with safeguarding policies across the Trust.

To deliver and support the multi-agency safeguarding meetings including MARAC.

To promote the clinical use of safeguarding tools across the Trust.

To take responsibility for keeping up to date and relevant research and development related to safeguarding.

A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.

Provide specialist safeguarding advice to frontline staff

Being the point of contact for staff concerned about safeguarding issues

To provide specialist safeguarding children and adult health representation for the Trust at multi-agency safeguarding meetings.

To maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records in accordance with Trust policy and procedure.

To analyse and interpret relevant clinical records in relation to the sharing of information required within the safeguarding process.

To work as part of the integrated Safeguarding Service, organising, planning and prioritising own workload to meet the needs of the service.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.
