History Teacher (ECTs Welcome) - Nottingham - January 2026
The Opportunity
A large and ambitious secondary academy in Nottingham is seeking an enthusiastic History Teacher to join its Humanities faculty from January 2026. This full-time, permanent role offers an excellent opportunity for an Early Career Teacher to begin their teaching journey within a vibrant, forward-looking school that places great value on academic rigour, inclusion and professional development.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a teacher who:
- Holds QTS, PGCE, or will be newly qualified in 2026
- Has strong subject knowledge and a passion for teaching History across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Can plan and deliver engaging lessons that bring the past to life and inspire curiosity
- Uses effective assessment and feedback to support all students to make progress
- Is reflective, motivated and keen to develop their practice through collaboration
An interest in enrichment activities such as trips, debates, or historical research projects would be an advantage.
The School Context
This large 11–18 academy serves a diverse and ambitious community and is part of a well-established multi-academy trust known for its commitment to high standards, inclusion and opportunity. The school has a strong focus on developing confident, independent learners through high-quality teaching, character education and pastoral care.
The Humanities faculty is an important part of school life, encouraging students to think critically about the world and its history. History is a popular and respected subject that develops students’ understanding of different societies, cultures and events that have shaped the modern world. Lessons are knowledge-rich, discussion-based and designed to promote curiosity, empathy and independent thinking.
As an Early Career Teacher, you will be supported through a structured induction programme with mentoring, regular observations and access to trust-wide CPD. The school offers a nurturing environment where new teachers are guided to develop confidence and expertise in the classroom, with clear opportunities for career progression as you grow.
What’s on Offer
- A comprehensive ECT induction and mentoring programme
- Excellent professional development and training across the trust
- Collaborative planning and strong departmental support
- Access to modern teaching resources and digital tools
- A competitive salary and benefits package
The Role in More Detail
You will teach History across Key Stages 3 and 4, designing lessons that help students explore significant events, figures and themes in local, national and global history. You will develop students’ analytical, evaluative and writing skills, preparing them for success in examinations and beyond.
You’ll contribute to departmental planning, resource development and enrichment activities such as trips, history clubs and themed projects. As you progress through your ECT years, you’ll be supported to take on increasing responsibility and leadership opportunities within a collaborative, supportive environment.
How to Apply
If you are an enthusiastic and dedicated History Teacher — whether newly qualified or early in your career — and are looking to work in a diverse, ambitious and supportive school community, we would love to hear from you. Please send your CV. Early applications are encouraged, as interviews may be held before the closing date.
