Year 2 Teacher - Nottingham

Marchant Recruitment
Nottingham

We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and experienced Year 2 Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Nottingham, starting as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity to teach pupils in Lower Key Stage 1, helping them consolidate their learning from Year 1 while preparing them for the next stage of their educational journey.

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for a Year 2 class, delivering engaging and differentiated lessons across all subjects. The school places a strong emphasis on inclusion, pupil wellbeing, and academic excellence, creating a supportive and collaborative environment for both staff and children.

You will join a professional Key Stage 1 team, where shared planning, reflective practice, and professional development are actively encouraged. Leadership is approachable and committed to supporting staff in delivering the best outcomes for pupils.

The Role

As a Year 2 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess lessons across all areas of the curriculum. You will monitor pupil progress, identify learning gaps, and provide targeted support to ensure that every pupil achieves their potential. Encouraging independence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours will be central to your classroom practice.

You will work closely with teaching assistants, colleagues, and phase leaders to maintain high standards and consistency across Key Stage 1. Building strong partnerships with parents and carers will be an important aspect of your role, supporting pupils’ learning at school and home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons in line with the Year 2 curriculum

  • Track pupil progress and use assessment to inform planning

  • Differentiate learning for all pupils, including SEND and EAL learners

  • Maintain a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment

  • Promote positive behaviour, independence, and resilience

  • Collaborate with teaching assistants and Key Stage 1 colleagues

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers

  • Participate in staff meetings, CPD, and whole-school initiatives

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Have experience teaching Key Stage 1, ideally Year 2

  • Be confident delivering literacy, numeracy, and foundation subjects

  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills

  • Be reflective, proactive, and adaptable

  • Show a commitment to inclusion and safeguarding

  • Work effectively as part of a collaborative team

Early Career Teachers are encouraged to apply and will receive mentoring and support.

Why Join This School?

  • Supportive leadership and collaborative Key Stage 1 team

  • Well-resourced classrooms and planning support

  • Opportunities for professional development and CPD

  • Engaged and motivated pupils

  • A positive school culture that values staff wellbeing

  • A welcoming and inclusive school community

Location

The school is located in Nottingham, with excellent transport links and a friendly local community. Staff benefit from a professional, supportive, and welcoming working environment.

How to Apply

To apply, please forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, clearly outlining your experience and suitability for the role.

Start Date: ASAP

This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
