Teacher of Geography - Secondary School - Nottingham

Marchant Recruitment
Nottingham

A successful and well-regarded secondary school in Nottingham is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Teacher of Geography to join its supportive Humanities department. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate geographer to inspire students with engaging lessons that develop curiosity, environmental awareness and a deeper understanding of the world around them.

The school has built a strong reputation for academic progress, clear behaviour systems and a positive learning culture where both students and staff are supported to succeed.

The Role

As Teacher of Geography , you will teach across Key Stages 3 and 4 , with the potential to contribute to A-Level teaching depending on experience. The curriculum is designed to develop students’ understanding of both physical and human geography while building analytical, evaluative and data interpretation skills.

Students study a range of topics including:

  • Tectonic processes and natural hazards

  • Climate, ecosystems and environmental change

  • Rivers, coasts and landscapes

  • Urban development and globalisation

  • Population change and global development

Lessons are structured to help students think like geographers—analysing data, evaluating case studies and developing evidence-based arguments.

You will work closely with colleagues in the Humanities department to plan lessons, share resources and ensure that students experience a well-sequenced curriculum that supports long-term understanding.

The Department

The Humanities department is collaborative, supportive and committed to delivering engaging teaching. Staff work closely together to plan schemes of work, share best practice and support students to achieve strong outcomes.

Geography is a popular subject within the school, particularly at GCSE, where students enjoy exploring contemporary global issues and real-world case studies.

The department also encourages enrichment opportunities such as geography clubs, sustainability initiatives and fieldwork opportunities that allow students to apply their learning beyond the classroom.

The School

The school has developed a positive and purposeful learning culture where students are encouraged to aim high and take pride in their work. Behaviour systems are clear and consistent, helping to create calm classrooms where teachers can focus on teaching.

Staff benefit from a supportive leadership team that values collaboration, professional development and wellbeing. Teachers are trusted to bring creativity to their lessons while working within a well-structured curriculum framework.

The school also places strong emphasis on developing students’ understanding of global citizenship and environmental responsibility.
