We are seeking a Research Associate/Fellow in Analytical Chemistry to transform the monitoring of pharmaceutical manufacturing and advancing sustainability through innovative automation, analytical science, and data-driven optimisation. You will accelerate the transition from batch to continuous flow processes. You will interact with project partners in the pharmaceutical sector to demonstrate the technology on high impact case studies.
The post will involve applying a range of spectroscopic techniques to new flow reactor designs developed at the University of Nottingham. The vision of the project is to apply continuous reactors, including continuous photochemistry, electrochemistry, and thermal chemistry to transform how fine chemicals and medicines are manufactured. It will involve lab-based research, based in Nottingham. The successful candidate will have a first degree in chemistry or chemical engineering and have or be in the process of obtaining a related PhD and a track record of successful research. Specific skills needed are experience in chemometrics, spectroscopy and product characterization techniques including NMR. Experience in advanced processing of analytical data would be desirable.
The person appointed will join a multidisciplinary team working in Chemistry and Engineering, led by Professor Mike George.
