School Information
This is a smaller-than-average secondary school with around 900 pupils, located in the heart of Rutland’s rural community. Despite its size, the school is consistently oversubscribed and well regarded locally for its supportive culture and strong outcomes. Its market-town setting means pupils benefit from a safe, close-knit environment, while being within easy reach of Leicester, Peterborough, and Stamford.
The school’s most recent exam results placed it above national averages, with strong performance in Humanities subjects. Behaviour and engagement are consistently excellent, with visitors commenting on the calm, purposeful atmosphere around the site. Facilities include modern ICT-equipped classrooms, specialist Humanities teaching areas, and outdoor spaces that support enrichment and extra-curricular activities.
The Humanities department is ambitious and innovative, running regular trips to sites such as the World War I battlefields in France and Belgium, Tudor houses, and local museums. Students also take part in enrichment through debating, essay competitions, and cross-curricular projects that help them develop wider skills.
Staff benefit from a comprehensive ECT induction programme, regular CPD, and mentoring from experienced colleagues. The school is proud of its reputation in Rutland as a place where teachers feel supported and valued, and where new teachers are encouraged to grow
