About the Role

The successful candidate will teach Art and Design across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. You will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons that help pupils develop technical ability, creative thinking, and confidence in their artistic work.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Teaching Art and Design across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5)

  • Planning and delivering creative and structured lessons using a variety of media

  • Supporting pupils in developing drawing, painting, and design techniques

  • Monitoring and assessing pupil progress through coursework and practical tasks

  • Preparing pupils for GCSE and/or A-Level Art assessments

  • Supporting the organisation of exhibitions, displays, and school art events

  • Maintaining a safe, organised, and inspiring classroom environment

  • Contributing to departmental planning and curriculum development

Experience and Skills

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification

  • Have strong subject knowledge in Art and Design

  • Be confident teaching a range of artistic techniques

  • Demonstrate strong classroom management skills

  • Be organised and able to manage resources effectively

  • Have the ability to inspire creativity and independent thinking

  • Work effectively within a collaborative team
