Quality Officer

Nottinghamshire County Council
Nottingham

Organisation Details

Nottinghamshire County Council is dedicated to serving our community with compassion and commitment. We strive to create a supportive environment where every employee feels valued and empowered. Join us in making a difference in the lives of children and families across Nottinghamshire.

Job Summary

We are seeking two highly organised and motivated individuals to join our Quality Assurance and Improvement Team (QAIT) within the Children and Families Department. QAIT is responsible for delivering a robust Quality Assurance and Improvement framework, ensuring continuous evaluation of children and families’ outcomes and experiences. This role is vital in supporting improvement at organisational, service, and system levels while helping the Council meet its regulatory requirements and maintain a state of inspection readiness.

You will be based at County Hall in West Bridgford, with the requirement to attend various office sites and event venues across the county. Our hybrid working arrangement allows you to work from home while also enjoying the benefits of in-person collaboration.

Role Responsibilities

As a Quality Officer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Quality Planning: Plan, co-ordinate and deliver QA and improvement activity in line with the Quality Assurance and Improvement Framework to meet departmental and regulatory quality inspection requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: To verify and analyse service delivery outputs for children and families’ services against regulatory inspection bodies’ quality requirements.
  • Quality Control: To lead on the continuous development and review of cross-departmental policies, procedures and guidance, taking into account statutory and regulatory frameworks and changes in national policy and in local practice
  • Continuous Improvement: To aggregate and analyse quantitative and qualitative data to identify areas for, and methods of, service improvement and to plan and test the effectiveness of those improvement actions.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A degree or equivalent level of experience in a relevant area, this may include project management, health and social care.
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures, project management or information analysis
  • Good knowledge of children’s social care legislation and best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and oral) – with the ability to build positive relationships and communicate with confidence across a broad range of stakeholders – including frontline staff, leadership, safeguarding agency partners and children and families where appropriate.
  • Technical knowledge of quality and improvement principles and change management and continuous improvement cycle methodologies and their application in an operational setting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data effectively.
  • Proficiency in using IT systems and software for reporting and analysis.
  • A full driving licence and access to transport to support delivery of in-person service activity across NCC offices.

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:

  • Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to quality evaluation and reporting.
  • Team Collaboration: A willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve common goals.
  • Adaptability: The capacity to adjust to changing priorities and work in a dynamic environment.

Organisation Benefits

At Nottinghamshire County Council, we believe in creating a place to belong. Our benefits include:

  • Flexible Working: Enjoy a hybrid working model that supports work-life balance.
  • Professional Development: Opportunities for training and career advancement.
  • Generous Leave: A competitive leave package to support your well-being.
  • Supportive Environment: A friendly and inclusive workplace where everyone is valued.
