Geography Teacher (ECT Welcome) - Nottinghamshire -...
The Opportunity
A dynamic 11–18 academy in the Bingham area is seeking a passionate Geography Teacher to join its faculty from January 2026. This full-time, permanent post is especially suited to an Early Career Teacher looking to grow in a supportive and ambitious school. You will teach Geography across Key Stages 3–5, contributing to both classroom teaching and broader curriculum development.
What We’re Looking For
We are interested in applicants who:
- Hold (or are completing) QTS / PGCE or equivalent
- Possess strong subject knowledge in both physical and human geography
- Are confident to teach Geography at GCSE and, where appropriate, A-Level
- Design lessons that stimulate enquiry, spatial thinking, and student curiosity
- Use feedback and assessment to help students make clear progress
- Work collaboratively, are reflective, and eager to contribute to school life
About the School
This coeducational academy serves students aged 11 to 18 and forms part of a growing trust. It is known locally for its strong academic expectations, inclusive culture, and modern approach to curriculum design.
Geography is a valued subject: the department emphasises interconnections between physical and human systems, and students explore themes such as sustainability, urbanisation, climate change and global development. The school’s curriculum intent states a commitment to giving learners a deep understanding of the world and their role as global citizens.
At GCSE, over 200 pupils chose Geography in recent years, reflecting its popularity among the student body. In Sixth Form, though uptake is smaller, the department offers a coherent A-Level programme that builds on key conceptual frameworks from earlier years.
Teachers often comment on the departmental culture of sharing resources, co‐planning, and ongoing review. Leadership is committed to ensuring new colleagues are supported, their ideas heard, and their workload managed.
What’s on Offer
- A structured induction programme with mentoring and specialist support for ECTs
- Salary on the MPS scale with well-defined routes to career progression
- Access to high-quality CPD and development opportunities
- Well-equipped classrooms, fieldwork resources and digital mapping tools
- A collaborative culture where teaching innovation is valued and encouraged
The Role in More Detail
You will design and teach Geography lessons that engage students with place, process, and impact. Lessons will include inquiry, data interpretation, map skills and thematic case studies. You will prepare students for assessments at GCSE and possibly at A-Level, providing scaffolding, challenge and feedback.
You will also take part in curriculum planning, resource creation, assessment moderation and cross-curricular initiatives connecting geography to environmental science, history, or global studies.
There will be opportunities to help organise field trips, from local landscapes to urban studies, enrich students’ geographical experience and embed learning outside the classroom.
How to Apply
If you are an enthusiastic and reflective Early Career Teacher ready to apply your passion for geography in a thriving and supportive school, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your CV. Early applications are encouraged, as interviews may be arranged on a rolling basis.
