Start Date: As soon as possible
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Paid to scale

School information:
This is a 11 to 18 well-established, Good Ofsted Rated Secondary School in Nottingham with a strong commitment to high standards, student wellbeing and continuous improvement. The school serves a diverse community and is known for its inclusive ethos, where positive relationships and high expectations underpin daily practice. Students are respectful, motivated and eager to succeed, creating a calm and purposeful learning environment.

The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum that supports strong academic outcomes alongside personal development, resilience and character education. The leadership team is ambitious, supportive and visible, and the school has invested heavily in pastoral systems, behaviour support and safeguarding structures to ensure every student feels safe, supported and able to achieve.

Staff benefit from a collaborative professional culture, with strong leadership, shared best practice and a clear focus on professional development. The school is proud of its staff retention and promotes a culture where staff wellbeing, professional respect and teamwork are prioritised.

Pastoral Team:
The pastoral team is a key strength of the school and works closely with Heads of Year, attendance staff, safeguarding leads, SEN staff and external agencies. The team supports students with barriers to learning including attendance concerns, behavioural challenges, mental health difficulties, family circumstances and social-emotional needs.

The school is seeking a proactive and highly organised Pastoral Manager to support a year group and contribute to whole-school pastoral systems. You will play a central role in ensuring students are supported effectively, behaviour is managed consistently and early intervention is put in place for vulnerable learners.

The role includes monitoring student behaviour and attendance, coordinating pastoral interventions, supporting reintegration after exclusions, liaising with families, and contributing to safeguarding and child protection processes. You will also support students on a day-to-day basis, helping them to regulate emotions, resolve conflict and remain engaged with learning.

You will work closely with teaching staff to ensure pastoral information is communicated effectively, and that students receive the right support at the right time. The school is looking for someone who is calm under pressure, confident managing sensitive situations, and committed to helping young people succeed.

Requirements
• Experience working with children or young people in a pastoral, behaviour or welfare role
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families and staff
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to handle difficult conversations professionally
• Strong organisational skills and confidence managing referrals, records and action plans
• Ability to remain calm, firm and supportive in challenging situations
• A commitment to inclusion, student wellbeing and raising achievement
• Confidence working with external agencies and contributing to multi-agency support plans
