Year 5 Teacher - Beeston
Inspire Pupils in Upper Key Stage 2
We are seeking a passionate, organised, and dedicated Year 5 Teacher to join a supportive primary school in Beeston, starting as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity to teach pupils in Upper Key Stage 2, helping them develop independence, resilience, and confidence as they prepare for Year 6 and secondary school.
The successful candidate will take full responsibility for a Year 5 class, delivering high-quality, engaging lessons across all curriculum subjects. The school values inclusive practice, high expectations, and pupil wellbeing, and is looking for a teacher who can motivate and inspire pupils academically, socially, and emotionally.
You will join a collaborative KS2 team where shared planning, reflection, and professional development are encouraged. Leadership is approachable and supportive, providing staff with the guidance and resources required to deliver excellent teaching and learning.
The Role
As a Year 5 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess lessons that challenge pupils while supporting a range of abilities. You will use assessment effectively to track pupil progress, identify learning gaps, and inform future planning. Supporting pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development is a key part of the role, helping them become confident, independent learners.
You will work closely with teaching assistants, colleagues, and phase leaders to ensure continuity and high standards across Key Stage 2. Communication with parents and carers is essential to keep them informed about pupils’ progress and achievements.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 5 curriculum
Monitor and track pupil progress using assessment to inform planning
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL learners
Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and independent learning
Collaborate with teaching assistants and KS2 colleagues
Communicate effectively with parents and carers
Participate in staff meetings, CPD, and whole-school initiatives
The Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Have experience teaching Upper Key Stage 2, ideally Year 5
Be confident in curriculum delivery, assessment, and differentiation
Have excellent classroom management and organisational skills
Be reflective, proactive, and adaptable
Demonstrate commitment to inclusive practice and safeguarding
Have a positive, professional approach to teamwork
Early Career Teachers are encouraged to apply and will be supported with mentoring.
