English Literature & Language Teacher - Independent...

This is a rewarding opportunity to teach highly motivated pupils in an environment that values intellectual challenge, creativity and depth of understanding.
The Role
You will teach English across KS3–KS5, delivering a rich and ambitious curriculum that places equal value on literary analysis, written expression and spoken communication. At senior level, teaching is seminar-style, allowing for close reading, debate and independent thinking. English is a popular subject at both GCSE and A-Level, with strong outcomes and a culture of academic curiosity that extends beyond the classroom.
There are opportunities to contribute to wider enrichment, including debating societies, creative writing groups, theatre visits and public speaking events.
The School
This independent school has a long-standing reputation for academic excellence and exceptional pastoral care. Set within an attractive campus that combines traditional buildings with modern teaching spaces, the school offers an inspiring and well-resourced working environment.
Pupil behaviour is exemplary, relationships are respectful and positive, and staff are trusted as professionals. The school places strong emphasis on developing confident, articulate young people with a genuine love of learning.
The Department
The English department is collegial, intellectually ambitious and supportive. Teachers work collaboratively on curriculum development while enjoying a high degree of professional autonomy. New staff are welcomed into a culture of mentoring, shared best practice and scholarly discussion.
