Trainee Approved Mental Health Professional
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Nottinghamshire County Councils 24 hour Improving Lives Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) Service. The post holder will either be a qualified and registered social worker, occupational therapist, nurse, or psychologist.
As a Trainee AMHP you will observe and support AMHP practice in preparation for attending and completing the post graduate certificate Approved Mental Health Professional academic course set at accredited masters level.
On successful completion of the post graduate training, you will work towards Approved Mental Health Professional approval and authorisation, following which the post holder will be expected to work a range of shifts covering the 24 hour service on a rolling rota pattern.
As an approved and authorised AMHP you will be responsible for considering requests for assessments under the Mental Health Act 1983. You will have overall responsibility for co-ordinating statutory assessments under the MHA 1983 and all other statutory duties and functions of an AMHP.
About you:
- You will be a registered social worker, occupational therapist, mental health nurse or psychologist with a proven track record of commitment to professional development, and experience of working with people in mental health crises.
- You must be committed to the principles of mental health legislation, with a strong focus on recovery and prevention principles and the promotion of human rights.
- You should have demonstrable experience in statutory mental health services, with a specific focus on risk management and multi-agency working.
Successful Trainee AMHP candidates should be able to demonstrate high levels of motivation for self-development. They should be able to evidence initiative, flexibility, resilience and a strong commitment to developing the team and the reputation of the wider service in line with the National AMHP Service Standards (2020).
