Join our dedicated team at Clayfields House Secure Children’s Home as a Relief Night Care Assistant, supporting young people aged 10–18 to feel safe, settled, and cared for overnight. This is a rewarding role where your presence provides reassurance, stability, and protection during the night, with enhanced pay for unsociable hours.
Job Summary
As a Relief Night Care Assistant, you will help ensure young people feel safe, supported, and cared for overnight by maintaining a calm and secure environment. Your duties will include supporting bedtime routines, monitoring welfare throughout the night, operating security systems, and completing light domestic tasks. You will cover annual leave and sickness
Clayfields House, located just a few miles from the M1, is a Secure Children’s Home licensed by the Department of Health. We provide care and support for young people aged 10-18 from various backgrounds and circumstance who require secure accommodation.
This flexible, as-required role is ideal for individuals looking to gain experience in residential childcare or work additional hours alongside existing commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, supportive and positive care to all resident children and young people
- Participate in the bedtime routines of young people.
- Monitor the welfare and safety of young people overnight.
- Operate security systems to ensure a safe environment.
- Perform domestic tasks as needed to maintain the unit.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
- Basic understanding of child development and care needs.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays
- Experience in a care or support role (not essential but beneficial)
Soft Skills
- Empathy, understanding and compassion towards young people's needs.
- Teamwork to work collaboratively with colleagues to provide the best care.
- The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with young people and team members.
- The ability to take ownership of your duties and ensure the safety of young people.
