This role is available at 1FTE (38.5 Hours per week).
Applications are invited to the above role to support the principal investigator (Prof. Kostas Tsintzas) in conducting research on a BBSRC funded project aiming to characterise rhythmicity in human skeletal muscle metabolism and how exercise affects it.
The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day running of this programme of work as part of Prof Tsintzas’ research team in the Division of Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience. This will include using analytical biochemical and molecular biology techniques and writing up their work in order to contribute to published outcomes.
We are seeking candidates with demonstrable evidence of research experience in human tissue metabolism and specialist skills in real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), western blotting, spectrophotometry and liquid chromatography coupled to high-resolution mass spectrometry (LC-MS). Experience in biochemical enzyme radioimmunoassays is desirable.
Knowledge of Health and Safety and relevant regulations applying to handling human tissues and ensuring a safe working laboratory environment is also essential.
Candidates must hold a PhD (or equivalent) or be near to completion of a PhD in the field of human metabolic and molecular physiology or biochemistry.
This full-time fixed-term post is available from 1st June 2026 for 12 months.
