At Want2Achieve, we support young people who are unable to attend mainstream school for a variety of reasons. Many of the students we work with have experienced barriers to learning and engagement, but with the right guidance and encouragement they are capable of incredible progress.

Due to a growing number of referrals, we are expanding our team and looking for passionate, resilient and committed Mentors to support students across Nottingham and the surrounding areas.

Some of the young people we support are considered hard to reach, but through patience, consistency and the right support, Want2Achieve has been able to successfully re-engage many learners with education and personal development.

This is a challenging but incredibly rewarding role for someone who believes every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed.

The Role

As a Mentor, you will work 1:1 with young people, helping them overcome barriers that prevent them from engaging in learning. This may include supporting their confidence, emotional wellbeing, behaviour, motivation and readiness to learn.

Sessions may take place in community settings, alternative provision environments or occasionally within the home, depending on the needs of the learner.

You will play a vital role in helping young people rebuild trust, develop life skills and re-engage with education or training pathways.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for mentors who are:

• Passionate about supporting young people facing barriers to education

• Patient, empathetic and resilient

• Skilled at building positive and trusting relationships

• Confident managing challenging situations calmly and professionally

• Flexible and able to travel within the Nottingham area

Experience working with SEMH, SEND, alternative provision, youth work, social care or pastoral support is highly desirable.
