Design & Technology Teacher - Nottingham

We are seeking a creative, motivated, and skilled Design & Technology Teacher to join a dynamic and supportive secondary school in Nottingham , starting ASAP . This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate teacher who enjoys delivering practical, engaging lessons and inspiring students to develop problem-solving and design skills.

The Design & Technology department is well resourced and offers a broad curriculum covering a range of specialisms, including product design, resistant materials, and graphics. As a Design & Technology Teacher, you will teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. You will encourage creativity, technical understanding, and independent thinking, helping students develop practical skills alongside theoretical knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Design & Technology lessons in line with the national curriculum

• Teach across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable but not essential)

• Prepare students for GCSE and vocational assessments

• Assess, track, and monitor student progress effectively

• Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including SEN and EAL

• Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe working environment

• Contribute to curriculum planning and resource development

• Work collaboratively with departmental colleagues and support staff

• Ensure health and safety procedures are followed in practical lessons

• Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

• Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification

• Have experience teaching Design & Technology at secondary level

• Be confident delivering practical and theory-based lessons

• Have strong classroom and workshop management skills

• Be creative, enthusiastic, and reflective in practice

• Be committed to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing

• Be a positive and collaborative team player
