Religious Education Teacher (ECTs Welcome) -...
The Opportunity
A growing and ambitious secondary school in Nottinghamshire is seeking a passionate Religious Education Teacher to join its Humanities faculty from January 2026. This full-time, permanent position offers an outstanding opportunity for an Early Career Teacher to begin their teaching journey in a supportive, forward-thinking environment that values curiosity, respect and personal growth.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a teacher who:
- Holds QTS, PGCE, or will be newly qualified in 2026
- Has strong subject knowledge in Religious Education, Philosophy or Ethics
- Can plan and deliver engaging lessons that encourage reflection, debate and open-mindedness
- Uses assessment and feedback effectively to support all learners
- Is reflective, resilient and committed to continuous professional development
An interest in pastoral care, enrichment projects, or running discussion clubs around philosophy, ethics or social issues would be advantageous.
The School Context
This 11–18 academy serves a growing and aspirational community and is part of a highly regarded multi-academy trust known for its focus on character education and academic excellence. The school is built around a clear ethos of ambition, resilience and respect, aiming to prepare students not just for examinations, but for life beyond school.
The Humanities faculty is a central strength of the school, encouraging students to think critically about the world around them and engage with big questions. Religious Education is taught through an inclusive, discussion-based approach that promotes understanding of different cultures, beliefs and values. Lessons challenge students to think ethically and develop empathy while building knowledge and critical thinking skills.
As an Early Career Teacher, you will receive a structured induction, regular mentoring and access to a wealth of trust-wide professional development. You will have opportunities to observe experienced colleagues, refine your classroom practice and take part in collaborative planning and training.
What’s on Offer
- A comprehensive ECT induction and mentoring programme
- Excellent professional development and career progression opportunities
- A collaborative, welcoming and supportive staff culture
- Access to modern teaching facilities and digital resources
- A competitive salary and benefits package
The Role in More Detail
You will teach Religious Education across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students explore philosophy, ethics and world religions through creative, inquiry-based lessons. You will foster a classroom environment where students feel confident to question, discuss and reflect on moral and cultural issues.
In addition to your classroom role, you will contribute to departmental planning, resource development and enrichment activities such as discussion forums, themed days and community projects. You’ll be supported every step of the way by a dedicated mentor and an experienced team that values collaboration and professional growth.
How to Apply
If you are an enthusiastic and reflective Religious Education Teacher — whether newly qualified or in the early stages of your career — and you’re looking for a school where you can develop, grow and make a lasting impact, we would love to hear from you. Please send your CV. Early applications are encouraged, as interviews may be held before the closing date.
