Key responsibilities include:
Preparing materials and equipment for DT lessons, workshops, and projects
Supporting staff and pupils with practical tasks and demonstrations
Maintaining and checking tools, machinery, and equipment for safety and functionality
Ensuring workshops are organised, clean, and safe at all times
Supporting the creation of resources for projects, assessments, and exhibitions
Assisting with storage and stock management of materials and supplies
Adhering to health and safety standards and risk assessments
Supporting extracurricular activities, competitions, or DT-related events
Experience and Skills
The successful candidate will:
Have experience in a DT technician, workshop, or practical support role, ideally in a school
Demonstrate strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Have practical skills across a range of materials and technologies
Be confident in operating and maintaining workshop machinery and tools safely
Be proactive, reliable, and able to support both staff and pupils effectively
Understand and adhere to health and safety regulations in a school setting
Work independently and collaboratively within a team
