A week in the role - what the Year 6 Teacher will do
Monday: the Year 6 Teacher leads high-impact mathematics and reading sessions as the Year 6 Teacher, focusing on reasoning and stamina. Tuesday: the Year 6 Teacher runs small-group interventions and bespoke retrieval practice as the Year 6 Teacher. Wednesday: the Year 6 Teacher delivers writing craft lessons and supports cross-school transition meetings as the Year 6 Teacher. All these routines are prepared prior to January 2026, refined during induction in January 2026, and enacted from January 2026.
Year 6 Teacher Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver a sequenced, ambitious curriculum as the Year 6 Teacher.
• Lead targeted revision and intervention as the Year 6 Teacher.
• Liaise with secondary partners and lead transition meetings as the Year 6 Teacher.
• Analyse assessment data and report to governors as the Year 6 Teacher.
The Year 6 Teacher will begin documentation before January 2026, attend induction in January 2026, and implement programmes from January 2026.
Year 6 Teacher Requirements
• QTS/PGCE (or equivalent) with successful Year 6 experience as the Year 6 Teacher.
• Strong assessment, data-driven practice and the ability to lead cohorts as the Year 6 Teacher.
• Availability for pre-start planning before January 2026, induction in January 2026, and classroom start in January 2026.
