Geography Teacher - Nottinghamshire - January 2026
The Opportunity
An ambitious and high-achieving 11–18 academy in the West Bridgford area is seeking a motivated Geography Teacher to join its team from January 2026. This is a full-time, permanent post teaching Geography across Key Stages 3–5, including GCSE and A-Level where required. You’ll play a key role in shaping an engaging and forward-looking Geography curriculum that connects students to the physical and human world.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a candidate who:
- Holds QTS, PGCE, or equivalent teaching qualification
- Has strong subject knowledge in Geography, capable of teaching at GCSE and, ideally, A-Level
- Designs lessons that promote enquiry, spatial thinking, and global awareness
- Uses assessment, feedback, and data to support every student’s progress
- Is collaborative, proactive, and open to contributing to enrichment and cross-curricular work
About the School
This mixed 11–18 academy has around 2,000 students on roll and is part of a well-respected multi-academy trust. It is renowned locally for its strong academic outcomes and wide-ranging extra-curricular offer. The school has celebrated “best-ever” GCSE results, with nearly 90 % of students achieving a standard pass, and close to three-quarters gaining a strong pass in core subjects.
In its most recent performance data, the academy achieved a Progress 8 score of +0.84, and its Attainment 8 score consistently sits well above local and national averages. The site is well resourced, with specialist classrooms, technology-rich teaching spaces, and access to outdoor environmental learning zones. The school’s ethos emphasises “everyone has the chance to shine brightly,” underpinned by pastoral care, student voice, and community engagement.
Staff describe a dynamic, collaborative culture where innovation and professional development are encouraged. Leadership is supportive and listens to staff ideas, aiming to balance challenge with teacher wellbeing.
What’s on Offer
- A salary aligned to the MPS / UPS pay scale, with scope for additional responsibilities
- Access to structured CPD, subject-specialist training, and career pathways
- A supportive leadership team that values wellbeing and teacher voice
- Excellent departmental resources, modern classrooms and specialist equipment
- On-site parking and a professional environment in which to thrive
The Role in More Detail
You will plan, teach and assess Geography lessons across all ability levels, encouraging critical thinking, map skills, fieldwork and global perspectives. You will guide students through GCSE and A-Level qualifications where applicable, supporting independent research, investigation and spatial analysis. Collaboration is central: the department shares resources, co-plans fieldwork, and continually refines schemes of work using feedback and evidence of impact.
Beyond the classroom, you may lead or co-lead field trips (local, national or international), coordinate city studies or environmental projects, support eco-schools initiatives, or embed real-world geography in school life. Your voice will be valued in curriculum planning, departmental reviews, and cross-school initiatives.
How to Apply
If you are a passionate Geography Teacher ready to make a meaningful contribution in a high-performing and forward-thinking school, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your CV. Early applications are encouraged, as interviews may take place ahead of the closing date.
