Year 6 Teacher - Nottingham

Marchant Recruitment
Nottingham

We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and committed Year 6 Teacher to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Nottingham, starting as soon as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about Upper Key Stage 2 and enjoys preparing pupils for the transition to secondary school while delivering high-quality, engaging lessons.

The school has a strong inclusive ethos, focusing on collaboration, high expectations, and pupil wellbeing. Staff work together to create a structured, stimulating, and nurturing environment where pupils feel safe, confident, and motivated to learn. Senior leadership is approachable and supportive, providing mentoring, guidance, and professional development opportunities.

The Role

As a Year 6 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess lessons across the Key Stage 2 curriculum. You will support pupils’ learning in literacy, numeracy, and foundation subjects while fostering independence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours. Collaboration with teaching assistants, colleagues, and parents is essential to ensure all pupils receive consistent, personalised support.

You will monitor pupil progress, provide targeted interventions where required, and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, engagement, and confidence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 6 curriculum

  • Deliver engaging literacy, numeracy, and foundation subject lessons

  • Prepare pupils effectively for SATs and secondary school transition

  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL

  • Promote independence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours

  • Maintain a structured, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment

  • Track pupil progress and maintain accurate assessment records

  • Provide targeted interventions to support pupil attainment

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues, and senior leaders

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress

  • Contribute to staff meetings, CPD sessions, and whole-school initiatives

  • Support enrichment activities, school events, and extra-curricular opportunities

  • Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Have experience teaching Upper Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6

  • Demonstrate strong classroom management and organisational skills

  • Be reflective, adaptable, and proactive

  • Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing

  • Work effectively as part of a professional and supportive team

Location

The school is located in Nottingham, with excellent transport links and a supportive local community. Staff benefit from a professional, inclusive, and well-resourced working environment where collaboration, development, and wellbeing are prioritised.

How to Apply

To apply, please submit an up-to-date CV outlining your experience and suitability for the role.
