Role Information
The school is looking for a compassionate, dedicated Welfare Officer to support student wellbeing, attendance, engagement, and pastoral provision.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing daily welfare support for students experiencing emotional, social, medical, or behavioural difficulties
Offering one-to-one check-ins, listening support, and early intervention guidance
Monitoring safeguarding concerns and reporting to the Safeguarding Lead
Coordinating external referrals and liaising with CAMHS, Early Help, social care, and health services
Supporting attendance monitoring and targeted intervention plans
Working closely with the pastoral team, SEN department, and form tutors
Helping to run wellbeing programmes, anti-bullying initiatives, and resilience workshops
Maintaining accurate electronic records, safeguarding logs, and follow-up documentation
Communicating effectively with parents, carers, and staff regarding student needs
Ensuring compliance with safeguarding legislation and confidentiality protocols
This is a meaningful role requiring empathy, strong judgement, resilience, and excellent communication skills.
Requirements
Experience in a welfare, pastoral, safeguarding, or youth support role
Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures (DSL training desirable)
Ability to build trust with young people and families
Excellent communication and emotional intelligence
Ability to stay calm, solution-focused, and professional
Experience working with external support agencies
Strong administrative and record-keeping skills
Commitment to promoting inclusion and wellbeing
