Role Information

The school is looking for a compassionate, dedicated Welfare Officer to support student wellbeing, attendance, engagement, and pastoral provision.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing daily welfare support for students experiencing emotional, social, medical, or behavioural difficulties

  • Offering one-to-one check-ins, listening support, and early intervention guidance

  • Monitoring safeguarding concerns and reporting to the Safeguarding Lead

  • Coordinating external referrals and liaising with CAMHS, Early Help, social care, and health services

  • Supporting attendance monitoring and targeted intervention plans

  • Working closely with the pastoral team, SEN department, and form tutors

  • Helping to run wellbeing programmes, anti-bullying initiatives, and resilience workshops

  • Maintaining accurate electronic records, safeguarding logs, and follow-up documentation

  • Communicating effectively with parents, carers, and staff regarding student needs

  • Ensuring compliance with safeguarding legislation and confidentiality protocols

This is a meaningful role requiring empathy, strong judgement, resilience, and excellent communication skills.

Requirements

  • Experience in a welfare, pastoral, safeguarding, or youth support role

  • Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures (DSL training desirable)

  • Ability to build trust with young people and families

  • Excellent communication and emotional intelligence

  • Ability to stay calm, solution-focused, and professional

  • Experience working with external support agencies

  • Strong administrative and record-keeping skills

  • Commitment to promoting inclusion and wellbeing
